The majority of my students are of low economic means and/or homeless. Their lives lack structure and comfort. I want our classroom to give them the structure and comfort the need.
The organization items will be used to keep things organized for them.
The heater is to keep the 65-degree room warm. I have no control over the temperature in the room. The rug will give the class a warm feeling and be added to the reading corner.
Research shows that students with no structure need lots of it to succeed. Providing heat and comfort will let their bodies relax and worry about what is being taught rather than worrying about how to stay warm. Thank you.
