My students are emergent readers that love a new story! I want to engage my readers with popular new stories, hands on games, and fun crafts that will promote reading. They need manipulatives such as puzzles and crafts to help in extended learning. Literacy skills allow students to seek out information, explore subjects in-depth and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

This project will provide my students with a COVID safe book bag and additional books to take home to promote family involvement in literacy learning. Parent involvement helps extend teaching outside the classroom, creates a more positive experience for children and helps children perform better when they are in school. This connection is a key component of a child's development and supporting further learning.
