Having a classroom library that is designed to offer independent reading, enjoyment, being knowledgeable on a variety of subjects, and having peer conversations on details discovered is important. I want students to use strategies taught for reading in a way that helps them feel what the text is saying and value the difference those words make in their mind.
These books were carefully selected to give students confidence that they can pick a "Just Right Book" and read it to themselves. I want them to enjoy reading for pleasure and for academics in their selected cozy spot.
My classroom library is set up with pillows, soft mats, and great natural light. I want my students to feel relaxed as they appreciate the books and engage their minds in allowing them to understand the author's purpose of the book and discuss it with others.
