For the 2020-2021 school year my district is allowing students the opportunity to learn face-to-face 100% of the time 5 days a week.
First graders love and need to be engaged and participating in hands-on learning activities even while socially distancing. Students will not be able to use or share my classroom materials and classroom items. This poses the challenge of how to continue with the best instructional practices for learning that have always been integral to instruction in my classroom.
My project provides each student in my class a bin of their own materials and manipulatives keep them engaged during instructional lessons. This will help students learn because they will still be able to have hands on learning while staying safe and not sharing with other students. Each student will keep their bin with them in the classroom and can take them outside when we go out for instructional lessons. They will also be able to take bins home as well if we find the needed for virtual learning.
