My school is a small rural school with over 50% students receiving free lunch. Our intention is to start a jazz band at our school with school owned instruments that the students can learn on. This instrument would be available to student from 5th through 8th grade. In our community the music program plays a large part in bringing people together. Besides our winter and spring concerts, we also give Veterans day and Valentines day performances that are open to the community. This project will allow students to continue music at the high school level if they want to continue in jazz band.
