Living in rural, southern Illinois, students are not exposed to other races or cultures. When students leave school, they find themselves in worlds that were not taught to them, or not taught to them the correct way. By expanding our library and resources to teach literature outside the classics, we are going to broaden the future of our youth and open their eyes to the issues of today. Rethinking the classics is so important for the students of today. Technology has taken over and turned students away from reading, I want to foster that love for reading!
