Due to Covid-19, we lost access to our classroom and school technology with the need to provide devices to our families. Students were using the devices for remote learning. Now we will be returning to school for face to face instruction and remote learning for students at home. Most (if not all) of our devices will be used by students for remote learning. Using our intervention programs, we are working hard to blend old school methods with new methods to help our struggling learners with English Language Arts. There are so many tools and extensions Chromebooks offer for our English Language Learners such as programs that highlight text, break text into parts, and read aloud selections. Our students need to learn how to manipulate technology to deepen their skills in the real world.
Allowing us to provide struggling students with Chromebooks allows us to help remove difficulties or boundaries for our students to succeed.
Students can use Chromebooks to create digital videos to answer questions, take quizzes online through free programs such as Pear Deck and Google Forms, and navigate through Google Classroom, Google Slides, and much more! Students will take ownership and responsibility for their own work through the use of technology tools and online programs/resources. Students will be more engaged and excited and excited to participate in lessons throughout the day.
