"The Art Of Shrinking Plastic Magically" will capture our students' eyes while leaving them gasping with excitement!!! Our students will start by exploring the history and science within Shrinky Dinks. Shrinky Dinks allows one to draw and create art on a piece of plastic and then add various layers of colored pencils. But what happens next will literally baffle students' minds. I use an oven and magically place the magnificent plastic art piece in and presto... the plastic not only shrinks before our students' eyes but will go through a complete transformation. After a few minutes in the oven, the plastic will literally curl up and will then shrink completely in size and then... flatten into its original shape!!! I think this will be a perfect time to play out the process a bit with the students and say to them... "OOOOO NOOOO WHAT IS HAPPENING!!! I am thinking the students' eyes will look HUGE for they will not know what to expect or even what is happening!!! But then they will see the repetition and transformation... but watching one's face will be priceless for I can not wait for all of the excitement in the ART ROOM!!!
