My students are in need of guided reading books. These books are important because they meet each student at their individual level and will allow me to push their thinking in all areas of reading. Aside from mastering fluency, they must also understand what they are reading and be able to see the text in many different lenses. This is accomplished through small group learning where I sit with a small group several times a week. During these sessions we read these books, engage in group discussions regarding the text where I ask questions and students create their own questions to take ownership of their learning.
