I absolutely LOVE the book, "Wonder", by R.J. Palacio!
The book's origin story is what gravitated me towards it: the author's son cried after seeing a little girl with facial disfigurement and she made it worse by trying to avoid the girl and her family.
A song by Natalie Merchant entitled, "Wonder", also gave her motivation to write.
The incident resonated with her and she saw it as a lesson learned and a lesson to give.
This year, with ALL that is going on, grace and understanding need to increase; I want my kids to read this book as a class to punctuate our Community Circle lessons (social-emotional learning) and develop a sense of community, even online. It is imperative!
