The use of dry erase pockets is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Most of my students do not have one or access to one. Using the workshop model in math, students will come to class with dry erase pockets for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. In the dry erase pockets students will be provided with fluency worksheets through Teachers Pay Teachers. The dry erase pockets allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Currently, the majority of my students are using pencil and paper which takes longer when running sprint and working on interactive worksheets. Even though they are great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues as well as time-consuming. They miss important instruction from either myself or other students. By having digital and physical resources including the dry erase pockets, students will be able to avoid all of these problems and focus on increasing their learning! With the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card I will also be purchasing a digital calendar so students can learn the days of the week, months, and weather; Interactive morning math where students can create stories using visuals all digitally; and a distance learning bundle of ‘Go Math PowerPoints’.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether they are going to be left behind or miss instruction.
