I work at a school that has many low-income families. These students desperately need to get into the text and feel confident about their reading ability. These reading paragraphs give children the ability to recognize blends and vowels in the text they read and to look for patterns. They give children reading tasks in chunks that make learning manageable!
These text sheets will be used in the classroom and students will follow along while we read together with their fingers. They will then go through and mark the learning target pattern with a colored pencil and read it to themselves. They will then read with a partner. This will give them confidence and repetitive practice.
