Even with virtual learning, I will still be teaching with a whiteboard in order to explain concepts and give clear examples. The current white board is 20 years old and is sporting smudges of all kinds that just will not be removed. It's actually just a shower board from Home Depot because our district is not well funded. I have spent a lot of time and energy and money trying to make my classroom as functional as possible, both for virtual learning and for when the students are back in the room, but a white board is out of my budget range.
During math we do all of our group work on the whiteboard, using nearly an hour on the surface for just one subject. We use it for every part of the day and I would love for it to be a clearly legible space for my students!
