Flexible seating is a critical component of focus in our classroom. In past years, students were asked to sit in a classroom for an hour at a time. This year, our students are being asked to sit in one classroom all day with two 10 minute breaks. This has heightened our need for more flexible seating options. I have been slowly purchasing seating items on my own but now would like to get the students what they need for success this year. A wobble chair, wobble cushion, floor chair, and floor desk would provide students with options to break up their day. Students have explicitly asked for a standing desk as it helps them move while completing work.
Much like you and I, students get tired of sitting at their cramped desk after a couple of hours. This makes it difficult for them to engage in learning. While the world outside of school is chaotic enough, it would be nice for students to feel comfortable focusing on classwork. The other small items on our list are two books requested and used by students and a set of speakers, as our Smart Board's audio is broken, for educational videos. We are preparing students to meet the challenges of an ever changing world!
