There’s a lot we don’t know about what it will be like this school year as we all learn to live with COVID-19. But there’s one thing we can say for sure: active, cooperative and motivating outdoor play is exactly what our kids need right now.
Our kids need a brain break from classroom learning and on line learning, away from the constant distraction of technology. Many students just need to run and play to regroup and re-motivate themselves. Active play outdoors gives kids time to innovate, think, team up and enjoy the freedom and success of running, kicking or throwing the ball, making a goal and reflecting on the fun later. It also gives children a healthy way to work through their fears, feelings, and understanding of this pandemic.
The equipment that is proposed are items that students could use freely with friends or alone in a large open field that we use as a play area at Kamaile Academy.
