These books are vital to social emotional learning. While remote teaching, it is challenging to support their social emotional development in an engaging way. In the classroom my students' favorite part of the day would be gathering on the rug and listening to a picture book and discussing their take aways. While being virtual we all miss the togetherness our read aloud created and I hope to replicate that time in our virtual meets still. Social Emotional picture books teach students important life skills in an engaging way. Students can relate and learn from the characters in a book. Picture books foster a love for reading and these books in particular will help me reach my students and support their development as people.
