The students in my classroom have a variety of challenges. They include Autism, Intellectual Impairments, and other physical challenges. Using technology has been a great way to access what the students know and to introduce them to new concepts. Some of these challenges make it difficult for them to access traditional paper and pencil activities normally found in the classroom. The students in my classroom respond well to activities that involve audio and visual stimulation and reinforcement. We have been doing similar activities on the interactive whiteboard and the use of an iPad would provide opportunities for independent work.
The ease of the iPad and appeal of the screen draw the students into learning. There are a variety of apps and programs built to support student learning through technology and it makes learning more fun!
