Thanks to a series of small grants, my creative and brilliant fourth and fifth-grade special ed students will benefit from a series of printmaking classes taught virtually by adult artists with disabilities.
NIAD Art Center is a non-profit studio that helps over 70 artists with disabilities create art and launch a career in the contemporary art world. Throughout the winter and spring, NIAD artists and staff will visit my digital classroom to teach students about printmaking, the art-making process, and developing a career in the arts.
With these art supplies, my students will be able to explore and
invent print-making techniques and approaches. We will focus on these essential questions from the California Arts Standards: 1. How does collaboration expand the creative process? 2. How do artists work? 3. How do artists and designers care for and maintain materials, tools, and equipment? 4. What criteria, methods, and processes are used to select work for presentation?
