Hands on exploration builds the minds of our youngest learners. With a limited number and types of blocks and translucent materials in the classroom, my student's creativity is inhibited.
The magnetic pattern blocks have multiple uses such as; creating patterns and creating three dimensional projects. The blocks are translucent which also allows young learners to observe how colors change as they build and construct on our classroom light table. Translucent letters and numbers allow my students to explore through light while learning to identify letters and numerals.
The light table sorting mat allows students to sort the materials as they distinguish patterns and relationships between objects. Translucent bugs, gems and color chips can be sorted altogether by color for beginning learners. To scaffold learning the objects can be sorted by more complex attributes such as bug type or gem size.
