All of these materials will be used to addressed standards in grade levels K-5th grade. I specifically ordered materials that are versatile in order to be able to used them across grade levels and target different ELA skills. For example, the picture book, The Invisible Boy, can be a great resource to teach theme to fifth grade, which addresses the standard CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.5.2. I can use this same book with first grade to teach story elements, which addresses this standard CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.1.3. Literacy is essential in kids cognitive development and during the pandemic, a lot of my students were not exposed to it.
The math resources and word building blocks will be used as an intervention to help students recover from the learning loss due to COVID by providing them with the practice and exposure to foundational reading and math skills. Students will be able to practice phonics patterns by building words with different blends and vowel teams as well as practice their basic math skills by practicing addition, subtraction and multiplication.
