Our school is in a small, poor, rural North Carolina town and our students seem to know it. We are not too far from the big city but the distance is felt. The students are good kids though but because of the lack of funds within the state and county, it's hard to give them all the experiences they deserve. It's hard to get them to think about life outside of this small town because it's all they know and it's all they get to experience. As a result it is a very conservative place with little cultural integration and it shows in the thoughts and actions of the students. Overall though, there are a lot of people that want to help the students and there are a lot of students that want to learn and want to know what life is like outside of small town North Carolina.
