I am a new teacher and I have been slowly building up my classroom library. I also have been working hard to find the best stories and materials to use to help students start reading, become more fluent, and get excited about reading. These can all be used for in person or distance learning which is even better!
The books in this project include a range of characters that encourage diversity and inclusion. I want my students to see themselves, their families, and those they meet in their stories. There are also repetition stories to encourage even those students that cannot read to "read" along. The stories in this project can be used across content areas as well.
I have included laminating sheets and Velcro strips to make more "busy books" where students can practice their phonics skills independently and as a group. The writing journals also will help with their word building skills and encouraging them to create their own stories.
This project has materials that will help my students in a variety of ways. I cannot wait to get started using them!
