During this unprecedented time, the importance of providing students with social and emotional literacy will help all students adapt to this new way of learning.
This project will help my first graders maintain necessary skills to understand empathy for others, build positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. This literature will also provide students with the ability to become avid readers and find a love for reading.
These books will enhance a print-rich classroom library for all students to enjoy. I would like to provide each student with their own sturdy, washable book box to support a new social distance, safety model. These bins will not only hold their books, they will also encourage organization, engagement and motivation. I know this project will support children in their social emotional literacy learning and help them to understand and manage their emotions, feel and show empathy for others, establish healthy relationships, set positive goals, and make responsible decisions.
