Sculpture students who are learning from home and in the classroom will have the opportunity to work with a new media. This will allow them to explore the connections of 2D rendering to 3D models.
The end result will be a free standing hollow sculpture of the students animal of choice.
Students will first create sketches of their intended designs from different angles. The subject matter will be based in nature, and will require students to do visual research about an animal in order to create several gesture drawings about their movement. They will then trace those drawings of different view points with the pen, lift them off the page and see how they come together. This will involve planning ahead, measurements and calculations, observation, and of course, creativity.
