This is a hands on project. You may have heard of escape rooms. They have become very popular. People of all ages enjoy them. Breakout boxes are a lot like escape rooms. In a breakout box activity, students work together and think critically to "break-in" to locked boxes. They must solve challenging puzzles and follow directions carefully to succeed. Breakout boxes require critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication.
Breakout boxes are a fun and exciting way to extend the classroom into the library. Breakout boxes can be used with all subjects. As the librarian, I will predominantly use them for teaching and reinforcing ELAR skills. I have used these at a previous school I taught at. Trust me, they are a huge hit!
