In the high school educational community it is sometimes difficult to stress the importance of reading for our youths. Without the ability to read and comprehend they will have problems in this technology-based world. As a Library Media Specialist it is one of my duties to find ways to encourage our students to take advantage of what the library offers. Giving incentives for reading is one way to help our students grow. I would like to be able to give personalized buttons to students as a prize for reading books/e-books. The buttons would be given to traditional students at school and mailed to remote learners at home.
Our school motto is "Success is not an Option it is a Demand" and reading is the cornerstone for all to be successful. We must celebrate our students in small ways as stakeholders in their educational endeavors.
