After coming back from a virtual school year, students are looking forward to in-person learning. However, they may not be looking forward to being confined to a chair all day at their desk. Even though, I create opportunities for them to sit around the classroom, they usually end up sitting on the floor. Flexible sitting allows students to be in charge of their learning as they learn to work independently. They need to be given other sitting choices other than the floor so they can stay engaged and focused on their work.
When students are given a choice, it creates a responsible learner!
