Flexible seating in the classroom allows students to make seating decisions that will keep them engaged and focused. During a normal school year, students would be able to take their independent work and move around the classroom to find a spot that best allows them to stay focused. Often times you would find students sitting at a table, laying on the floor with a clipboard, sitting under their desk. I have found that when students are able to choose their own seating, they are much more focused and ready to complete their task at hand.
Due to COVID regulations, student are not able to move around the classroom to choose a spot they enjoy working in. Students are required to stay in their 6 foot spaced area. By donating to this project, you will allow students the option to change their seating in their own space. The wobble stools are adjustable and will allow students to be at different heights and will be beneficial for students who need more movement. The scoop chairs will allow more comfort and will be lower to the floor, which will be helpful for students who like to sit with a clipboard.
I have seen how effective different seating options have been for students and I hope these new options will allow students to get their "cozy" spot back during these challenging times.
