My students come from low income families where our neighborhood is infested with gang members. 100 percent of our students are given free breakfast in the classroom every morning and 98 percent free lunch. Yet with these obstacles, my students want to excel and try their best daily. They come to school knowing they have a safety net, routine, high expectation, and love. They enjoy staying after school for tutoring. Even though they come to school socially impaired, our school has made enormous growth with state test. They are the reason why I enjoy waking up every morning and giving my best. They are teaching me that every day I truly can make a difference. They love to be challenge and best of all, they love coming to school everyday ready to learn.
