All of my students are English Language learners who came from different countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Ghana, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, China, and India. They are at the same level as others in cognitive development but have some unique needs that must be addressed if we want them to be successful in school and in life in general in a new culture. Sometimes, the biggest obstacle for my students is that they don't know enough words but one of the ways I can support them is visual aids - whether to show pictures or videos, write on the board, PowerPoint presentations, or performing a song, the more senses ELs can use to take information in, the better.
