I believe in placing a high value on reading in the classroom. When students walk into my classroom (once we go back to learning in person), I want them to see literature everywhere. I want each child to know they can be a successful reader and learner by finding books they connect with. My students have a wide range of reading levels and interests and I want my classroom library to reflect just that. I have carefully selected each book on this list with a specific purpose in mind. In order for kids to fall in love with reading, they need to see themselves in the text. These novels and stories feature characters from different backgrounds and abilities. Some books take place in relatable school settings while others transport the reader into creative magical worlds. I cannot wait to make reading come alive for my students and I hope these books will be a great start!
