As a new teacher at a new school where the budget failed to pass twice this year (on top of a global pandemic), I am looking to update our very outdated books (and have very little funds) in order to connect more to my students and increase their interest in reading. I have about 65 ninth grade students, from rural New Hampshire, who love fishing, the outdoors, and winter, but are not so fond of reading. We have about 30 copies of Into the Wild, but I am looking for more so all my students can study this fantastic nonfiction tale about, well, winter, survival, and the quest to find one's identity. Please help me update our school's books, interest students in reading, and assist my wonderful ninth graders on their quest to find out who they truly want to be and how they want to contribute to this world.
