Although my school is STEAM Academy, we do not currently offer an art class because of funding issues. Working art into our interdisciplinary classes would be a great way to begin to consistently bring art into our classrooms. Students will be able to draw what they are learning about to add that non-linguistic approach to learning. Representing ideas non-linguistically is a higher order thinking process that helps students to learn at deep levels. In civics, science, government, math, and English, we will tie art into our interdisciplinary units of study.
