The large majority of my students do not speak English in their homes. The students speak a very social form of Spanish, and a very social form of English, I believe reading these books together as a class will improve overall language skills. Because of this reading, and writing scores are very low at this school. It is my goal as a language teacher to encourage academic language. I believe that reading these stories out loud will provide a fun and engaging way to improve academic language in both reading in writing. We will use these books to read out loud to each other in small groups. After the small team has completed a page of reading together we will review and analyze the content together. Identifying grammar, and vocabulary that we have been learning.
