Every morning I open my classroom door at 8am to allow time for my students to create and build. Their imaginations are hard at work working together with their peers to construct, engineer and build.
I would love to be able to offer more create and build activities, such as Brain Flakes, that do not come with step by step instructions on how to build things. Rather they leave the building up to my students imagination.
Not only are my students actively engaged with each other during our morning create and build time they are also working on critical thinking skills, verbal communication with peers, applying mathematical practices and patience, especially when their creation fails and they have to start over.
