I would like to start an evidenced-based literacy program called Tell Me for my pre-k CSS students. This program was developed to provide students access to instructional materials and activities that not only target communication skills, but that also incorporates literacy skills through reading and writing opportunities. TELL ME stands for Teaching Early Language and Literacy through Multimodal Expression and is a comprehensive program designed to address the communication needs of young students while incorporating literacy learning through storybooks. Tell Me program focuses on providing high-quality instruction to teach basic vocabulary and core words through repeated readings of storybooks.
The program provides information and materials to help support and guide educators/support staff by using books as a vehicle to infuse communication and literacy opportunities throughout the school day! The Tell Me program utilizes 11 different books to assist in developing good AAC teaching practices and routines that can then be implemented when planning classroom or therapy lessons.
