I have a class of 22 wonderfully eager 3rd graders! They love to learn and listen to books being read. Our class is fully virtual this year, and students are in an urban area. Due to this, being able to allow my students to feel the joy of a book in their hands to get lost in has been extremely difficult. Being able to gift each student 2 books that they chose as interested by would be amazing.
Virtual learning has come with many challenges and difficulties for my students, but they have continued to take on any challenges that we have faced. Using online reading platforms just is not the same, nor as engaging for many of my students. Many students are below grade level in their reading, so being able to support and gift them the ability to improve their reading, share a book with a sibling or adult, and see that I believe in growth is important.
