This year in my first year teaching, I have 3 learners that are all special needs and require a special classroom. They each have specific behavior needs and have acted out physically. My students are also on the same reading level and I do have a small library that I have self-funded. I would like to provide them with more reading texts to read together in small groups and during read to self. The pillows and library will be an area to conduct reading groups together during social skills.
I would also like to have sensory items and varied seating for them when they need a break. The sensory items would also provide an outlet for them to be able to redirect negative and distracting behaviors. Sensory timers, weighted blankets, and fidgets will be used for breaks.
