In an effort to keep the doors of our school open and safely disseminating effective academic instruction, with Covid-19 safety guidelines strictly enforced school-wide, the security team/staff has taken the necessary preventative measures such as sectioning off one-directional travel pathways, taping seating areas 6 feet apart, and eliminating the use of public water fountains across the entire campus. Students and teachers alike have experienced a significant shortage in access to clean drinking water. Students and teachers have the option of bringing water bottles but tend to forget those on a regularly and those that don't forget bottles end up drinking Luke-warm water within the first 2 hours of being at work.
Providing access to a hands-free water dispenser and a reusable 5-gallon bottle in my classroom will allow both, teachers and students, proper access to clean water as often as needed. These essential resources (water dispenser and reusable water jug) will not only keep students and teacher's thirst quenched and their bodies hydrated but will also discourage unnecessary traffic flow and the risk of spreading Covid-19.
