Prior to the school closure, my students were enthusiastic about going to the computer lab. However, they were not able to master the use of the desktops during this time. Since March, they have been using iPads for their instruction. It is quite frustrating to me that my students never fully mastered using a desktop and they were not able to completely develop their fine motor skills prior to our school closure. My students are currently using and getting familiar with all online platforms available to them for Distance Learning. However, they still need to develop their fine motor skills. This has become a challenge because of the constant use of technological devices that do not require this ability. One way for them to develop their fine motor skills is through the use of a stylus on their devices.
My students’ refinement and improvement of their fine motor skills during Distance Learning will be enhanced by using a stylus.
My students are in need of a stylus pen in order to improve on their fine motor skills when at home completing assignments through the online applications that they are currently using on their iPads. The ipad will help me model their activities during our virtual meetings. This project will help my first grade students, and my partner teacher students, achieve this goal as they incorporate the use of stylus pens in their online instruction assignments.
