Students with ADHD, ADD, on the spectrum, or that have similar issues are often moving or fidgeting more than a typical student. This movement can be distracting to peers and even the student themself. Providing alternative/flexible seating will not only allow a student to move in an appropriate manner, but it encourages this movement. Research has shown us that this movement helps to fully engage the student and a student that is engaged will learn more and enjoy the process more than a student with ADHD in standard seating. Having flexible seating available to a large number of students will not only be beneficial to this year's students but to students in future classes.
