Allowing students to possibly get a new basketball through a raffle drawing by reading chapter books will provide them with joy and allow them to learn to read for pleasure. Students are super motivated to read chapter books throughout the year with having an opportunity to earn a basketball as a prize through a raffle drawing after reading at least one chapter book per month and writing a short book report on it. Book talks, book trailers, and many book titles will be shared with students for them to choose from.
