Step inside any early elementary grade classroom and you will find a learning rug as the focal point. The rug is where we learn, collaborate, listen, share, relax, and laugh. I have taught for 24 years and have ALWAYS had a rug in my room. It is were the best moments of each day happen, where we learn and listen the best, where little bodies feel grounded and secure.
Imagine my horror when I started this year in a new district and discovered my new room had no learning rug!!!
I'd love to provide a beautiful rug for my wonderful students to learn on. The carpet just isn't the same!
