My students are English Language Learners who get excited about reading novels. They cannot afford to purchase their own but feel such a sense of pride when they have personal copies. This allows them to read at their own pace, annotate, and refer back to the book when needed.
Seeing my students' eyes light up as we read from chapter to chapter and the way they connect with the characters makes our novel study rewarding. I feel as though I am showing my students the importance of reading and developing lifelong readers.
