The materials picked focus on play skills, vocabulary development, and fine motor skills. The students in our classroom range from students who have not yet developed play skills to those who are ready to move on to more advanced skills. The toys in this project can be used to support the learning of students on both ends of the learning spectrum.
In our classroom, learning looks different for each student. Students are working on different skills throughout the day. Some are working on building vocabulary that they can use to meet their needs. The vocabulary cards allow students to see real pictures of items, allowing them to build knowledge of common nouns. Building this language will help them in communication with others and future reading skills.
By teaching the basics to the students now, we are building the foundation for future learning. Each student is learning at their own rate based on their needs. The materials requested will allow the wide range of needs to be met.
