Students who are distracted by emotions are unable to self regulate and concentrate on their work. They are unable to retain information, transfer it to other situations and they are unable to show progress in their academics. Students who experience emotional trauma often spend too much time distracted or being a distraction to learn how to read, and often struggle throughout their entire school career.
The games and books will be used to practice teaching the students to self regulate the students reaction to their anger and their impulsive behavior. Students will learn how to count down from anger, and how channel and to concentrate on school! Students will also learn that it is ok to get angry at times, but how to control their reaction to the anger.
