These helmets will allow students at my elementary school to engage in lifelong activities during physical education class, such as snowboarding, biking, skating, rollerblading, or skateboarding. Last winter 90% of my students went snowboarding during PE, using the Burton Riglet Program and a hill on our campus. I have access to borrow snowboards, and those can be shared during COVID regulations, but helmets cannot be shared, and I cannot borrow enough for all, which will make it extremely difficult for all students to participate in this unit. The snowboarding unit was the highlight of last year for many students and something that I presented about at our school board meeting. Access to helmets such as the ones requested will also open up future units of study and lifelong learning, such as rollerblading, skateboarding, and biking. Your generosity will go a long way to put smiles on the student's faces here this winter, and for many seasons to come!
