Many of my students are learning tools this year to help them learn how to handle their stress and anxiety. Our school is focusing on the Zones of Regulation and supporting our students in being aware of their feelings and how they can manage them.
Flexible seating and fidgets are tools they can use in my classroom to allow them options while they are learning how to self regulate when they are stressed or have anxiety. My students have learning challenges that can cause stress in a classroom and then the additional stress of COVID-19 has made it vital to support my students social emotional needs to help them achieve academically.
