Our students were recently moved to the school gymnasium as our "new" classroom. We have outgrown our classroom under the current COVID guidelines. Comfort and flexibility improves students access to learning. Students ability to focus while learning reading and math can be acheived with wiggling at their seats without distracting others. Having fun area rugs for student in the "gym" classroom allows them to stretch out to practice math games and be comfortable while reading. Student engagment increases when they are comfortable and available to learn and feel cared for.
