This year I teach students both virtually and in person. As an art teacher this presents a special challenge. The traditional hands on learning experiences have become limited. Due to these and other accessibility constants an art appreciation teaching model has been implemented. Students are developing their knowledge about art through artists studies.
The Scholastic Art magazines make art appreciation meaningful because students find the material engaging and relatable. The magazine will be used to engage students in discussions and written responses. Part of being a specials area teacher is to enrich student learning in a way that supports classroom teachers. This year especial allows me to support text dependent questions or reading response questions incorporated by classroom teachers. In art, student response is based on visual responses coupled with background information.
